Spell out the words “M-A-G-I-C-A-L-S-U-M-M-E-R” aloud, dealing one card face down onto the table for each letter. Because the phrase contains thirteen letters and you only have eleven cards, you will run out of cards before finishing the spell. When you run out, simply pick up the dealt pile and continue spelling the remaining letters. The very last card you deal when finishing the word “SUMMER” will invariably be the card your family member selected, leaving them completely baffled by your psychic abilities.

Take the deck back and openly place the two red Kings face up on the table, calling them your “detectives.” Keep the two black Kings hidden in your lap or pocket for later.
Ask a volunteer to cut the deck anywhere they like, look at the bottom card of the top pile, and place it back on top of the lower pile. Next, place your two red Kings face up on top of that pile, and then place the remaining cards over everything. This action effectively sandwiches the chosen card between your two red Kings. To reveal the card, spread the deck across the table face down. The red Kings will be highly visible. Slide them out along with the single face-down card trapped between them. Hold that hidden card up to your ear, pretend to listen to the red Kings whispering, and confidently announce the correct card to your amazed audience.
